We briefly visited the property again today to get a sense of what it might look like if we decide to rebuild. There were a lot more work crews in the area from the power company repairing equipment, presumably to get power back in the area for the remaining homes and the upcoming remediation work. One of our other neighbors got in touch and wanted to go visit their property, so we put together some sets of PPE for them and handed them off. We have at least one more visit back to the house coming up, so we did another home depot run to refill on PPE.
Autumn went to an alternate daycare today, along with one of her good friends from her regular daycare. She had a good time and will continue for the rest of the week. Regular daycare is still working on cleaning in preparation for reopening, possibly by next week. They hosted a video call to discuss what they're doing and field questions from parents. There do not seem to be established guidelines on what exactly to do for surviving buildings that have potentially been exposed to pollutants from a fire like Eaton, so we are still trying to figure out what is safe. The Altadena Town Council also held a community meeting tonight, where the unofficial town representatives (elected, but Altadena is not its own city but an unincorporated part of LA County, which is the first level of government for the area) hosted representatives from local, state, and federal organizations participating in remediation work. There were a lot of question, some answers, and a lot to follow up on.
